2022 Year In Review

2022 Year In Review

After the last two years, it’s hard to say that a season was unusual. 2020 had so many twists and turns. Including spring games until June in New York City. Last year, there was some turbulence with scheduling. And I hurt my back after my trip to Arizona and things went downhill as the season went on.

This year, I was mostly healthy. Though getting older is not without its pitfalls. And things seemed to go on as planned. But my entire year had been affected by things including the economy and personal matters. I usually have a rather open personal life in the fall for football. And just work a bit more in the first eight months of the year. 2022 wasn’t that year. Continue reading “2022 Year In Review”

2022 Week 6 (Tri-State)

2022 Week 6 (Tri-State)

So, I finally got home from my three week sojourn. Last week, I was in South Dakota for three games in my semi-regular stomping ground of Aberdeen. A town I’ve previously seen summer league baseball games. But, being home meant finding games for this weekend. I had an idea and then my Saturday opened up with one game in a place I’ve wanted to see for a while. But, with games in the Tri-State, I was all over the map. 2022 Week 3 (Ohio & Pennsylvania)

2022 Week 3 (Ohio & Pennsylvania)

This was another week close to home. Or, so it would seem. Over 700 miles driving around Ohio and Pennsylvania for four games. All at new stadiums. But, only one new team. The weeekend started with a decision on whether to do a New York game in Frewsburg or an Ohio game. Neither game was going to be close. Though, for the Ohio game I wouldn’t need to write anything. As I’d have a writer there. I’d also see River for the first time. So, I decided to make the drive south along the river. My Friday game was in limbo. I had planned for a single game at Blackhawk. Until I confirmed there was a doubleheader at Cupples Stadium. So, I was going to do the first game there between Carrick and Uniontown, and then head to Plum for their game against Shaler. That changed completely when I found out that Warren was hosting their home game at Youngsville. Continue reading “2022 Week 3 (Ohio & Pennsylvania)”

2021 Year In Review

2021 Year In Review

After an unimaginable 2020 season, this year was a bit more relaxed. Though rushed. With the previous season ending in June, there was little downtime before the 2021 season started. This affected my usual summer plans, as well as made the financial planning a bit more precarious. I wasn’t sure, in the summer, just how much I would or could do. But, I was intent on doing as much as possible. And though a lot was ‘old’, there was a lot of ‘new’ thrown in. Including my month long trip around the middle of the country. 2021 Week 3 (Ohio & Indiana)

2021 Week 3 (Ohio & Indiana)

Week 3 was a long awaited return to Indiana for myself. After COVID had restricted opportunities to visit the Hoosier State, a trip back to Muncie for the CIC Day was circled on the calendar the moment we saw it posted on the schedule.

The CIC Day is when all four league games of the Central Indiana Conference are played at Scheumann Stadium, the home stadium of Ball State in Muncie, Indiana. With that, came finding games to go with it. And an obvious one was on the docket: Delta hosting Yorktown. Continue reading “2021 Week 3 (Ohio & Indiana)”

2020 Week 10 (Ohio & Pennsylvania)

2020 Week 10 (Ohio & Pennsylvania)

As the regular season winds to a close in a mish-mash of regular season, playoff, and consolation games, things are getting a little easier for scheduling. But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t weird things that crop up.

Then, there’s things unrelated to scheduling and travel. Such, as a brand new camera failing right before a game. But, I’ll get to that.

So, the week started easily enough. For Thursday, the only real option was to head to Ohio. Columbus had three Thursday night ‘playoff’ games in the Columbus City League. Continue reading “2020 Week 10 (Ohio & Pennsylvania)”

2020 Week 8 (Ohio & Pennsylvania)

2020 Week 8 (Ohio & Pennsylvania)

Things had gotten a little more relaxed this week. For one, Pennsylvania had relaxed their stringent restrictions on attendance. Which made the old 250 limit no more. It was nice being at a game in PA with what could be called a ‘crowd’ for a game. But, with all the restrictions, I didn’t look for much of the Pennsylvania games earlier in the week.
