Week 15 was a short week for games. As the state semifinals were being played for both Ohio and Pennsylvania. Games were at a premium. Ohio had all games on Friday night. Pennsylvania had mostly Friday games where I could get to them. With limited options for Saturday.

2024 Week 13 (New York & Pennsylvania)
This was a week with a lot of driving. And many games. Thursday opened with three games planned in New York. It was my first time back to Orchard Park since 2019. Annually, Section VI in New York hosts their sectional finals at the home of the Buffalo Bills.
Before doing sideline photography, I was here in 2013 and 2014 for the Sectional Finals, as well as some MMAA playoff games when they were held here. Back when it was Ralph Wilson Stadium. And then in 2018 and 2019 on the sideline under the name New Era Field.
This year, it’s now Highmark Stadium. Not to be confused with the same named stadium in Pittsburgh. Continue reading “2024 Week 13 (New York & Pennsylvania)”
2022 Week 1 (New Jersey)
2022 Week 1 (New Jersey)
Week One was a trip east to New Jersey. I had planned this trip in 2021. However, it fell through thanks to a hotel booking issue. Coming out of Covid, the rate for my room had nearly trippled, and the hotel decided not to honor my original booking.
But, this year, I was going to head to Ocean City for three days of football mere feet from the Atlantic Ocean. I had to leave on Thursday, and my schedule was a bit hectic. Lunch with family, and then taking my sister to the airport to fly home. And then, a long long drive to New Jersey. Via Baltimore. I’ll explain. Continue reading “2022 Week 1 (New Jersey)”
2020 Week 15 (Pennsylvania)
2020 Week 15 (Pennsylvania)
Week 15 was my annual trip to the Pennsylvania State Championships in Hershey. Even in this Covid-crazy world, at least some things stay the same. But, the more they stay the same, the more they change. Instead of three days, all six games were squeezed into two days. Which made for two really long days minding the sidelines. 2019 Week 16 (Pennsylvania)
2019 Week 16 (Pennsylvania)
The Pennsylvania State Championships are a fun, albeit slightly subdued affair. Unlike other states still playing this late, lack of warm weather hinders the crowds, and some of Pennsylvania’s crowds are paltry. Only 950 attended the Thursday afternoon game between 1A powers Farrell (one of the smallest public schools in the state) and Bishop Guilfoyle, a private school also from the west side of the state. 2018 Week 13 (Pennsylvania)
2018 Week 13 (Pennsylvania)
There was just so much going on this weekend, that it’s hard to get it all written down. Especially on a short week. Many games across Pennsylvania and New York were postponed. Altoona went from hosting two games to hosting six games. District 9 couldn’t find anyone to host their games. Continue reading “2018 Week 13 (Pennsylvania)”
