2024 Week 1 (Tennessee & Kentucky)

After a long weekend in Georgia this week was half the games in Tennessee and Kentucky. Years ago, I saw Anderson County play at Carter on a Rivalry Thursday game. And this year, they opened the season at home. I had been by their field before. Located northeast of Clinton, I had been off the exit from I-75 many times before. Including going to a game at Clinton. So, it made sense to head down for their Thursday opener.

2020 Week S0 (Virginia & Tennessee)

2020 Week S0 (Virginia & Tennessee)

I wasn’t quite sure what to call this week. Was it Week 28? 2021 Week 1? Or Week 0? Well, I finally settled on 2020 Week S0. Short for Spring Week 0. Why 0? Because Virginia’s first week is a bit odd, and with games going from Monday through Sunday as part of the opening ‘starter’ week, I decided on S0.

Which then brings up the games. One, is that with the spring schedule it’s been much harder to track down which games are being played where and when. This isn’t like New York whose districts put out season schedules all at once. Usually publicized through print media that’s easy to discern. 2017 Week 1 (Tennessee)

2017 Week 1 (Tennessee)

I may have slacked the past two years remarking on trips around the country. But, this year I decided to try and write some about games outside Ohio. Less on the games themselves, and more on just notes and observations about how other states do things.

As has been the case, my season started once again in Tennessee. This works great because it combined both my anniversary and a football trip into one. Now, other states start in Week 0, such as Indiana and Kentucky. However, Tennessee is one of the few that opens with games on Thursday.
