2020 Week 22 (Texas)
A very long 2020 season wound to a close. At least for me. And where most of my seasons end. It was at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The final four remaining games of the UIL championship slate were scheduled for Week 22 of the high school football season. There were, however, still two more days of Football in Week 23, however those games were in Michigan and without any real ability to get in to see any of them. 2020 Week 21 (Texas)
I have spent a lot of time in Texas. And honestly, it couldn’t keep up. Especially if I wanted to see the four state finals in Week 22. So, after seeing the six games in Week 20, my only real option was the six-man game in San Angelo on Tuesday. Continue reading “2020 Week 21 (Texas)”
2020 Week 20 (Texas)
I’ve been busy now the last few weeks. So, aside from getting photos done, doing a little write-up on the games is a bit of a stretch. Also, since I was in Texas for work for two weeks meant that I didn’t really ‘travel’ for the games like I did with South Dakota, Mississippi, or the state finals of Week 18.
This week, knowing I was going to be in Texas, made getting to DFW an easier option. With the prospect of six games, made it worthwhile. With limited fans and AT&T Stadium generally unavailable, Globe Life Park, just down the street, has become the go-to venue in DFW. Continue reading “2020 Week 20 (Texas)”
2020 Week 19 (Texas)
I left Arkansas on Saturday afternoon. And got home Sunday afternoon. It was Tuesday when I realized I’d be in Texas the weekend after Christmas. Midland, to be precise. So, getting to DFW seemed like an easy proposition. And there were several games going on at Globe Life Park. Continue reading “2020 Week 19 (Texas)”
2020 Week 18 (Texas & Arkansas)
After Mississippi, I wasn’t quite sure that I was going to see any games the rest of the 2020 calendar year. I had considered maybe seeing the title games in Georgia. A week after Christmas. I still had wanted to see the Texas finals. But, with only 8 games scheduled of the 12, I was not quite sure I wanted to make the drive for that. Continue reading “2020 Week 18 (Texas & Arkansas)”
2020 Week 2 (Texas)
I knew I would be in Texas this weekend. For a few weeks, I had planned to be in Texas this weekend. West Texas. For the Jayton Kickoff Classic. A three-day event of six-man football in the small outpost of Jayton. However, that event was cancelled and the originally scheduled games were cast off to the various home sites of their participants. So, no longer was I going to see two games Thursday, one Friday (after an initial cancellation), and five on Saturday. Instead, it would be one and one. And maybe Saturday if somehow at all possible. Continue reading “2020 Week 2 (Texas)”
2019 Week 18 (Texas)
After the games in Georgia. There was only one destination remaining: Texas. This was the 9th straight year I’ve traveled to Texas for the state finals. Tenth overall. I was going to say it’s where I’ve ended my year for the 9th straight time… however in 2014 I did see the Geico State Champions Bowl Series games at Boca Raton one time. Continue reading “2019 Week 18 (Texas)”
Well, I got out to the Sunflower State like I planned. In the process notched State #37 to my all-time list with two games. With a lack of Saturday games, my only options were in Texas and luckily I made the most of it with two games Saturday evening only about an hour apart. Both six-man games in vastly different settings. Continue reading “Week 5 (Kansas & Texas)”
2018 Week 18 (Texas)
The trip to Texas is usually, if at all, the beginning of a bigger trip. Never yet has it been the ending of a bigger trip. In years past, I’ve done New Orleans and Houston. And once did Arlington and South Florida for the Burger King Bowl. Continue reading “2018 Week 18 (Texas)”
Week 17 (Texas)
I originally hoped to get something down earlier but the week between Texas and Florida was a bit full for certain obvious reasons.
Basically, Week 17 was part of a three week trip for games in Texas and Florida, as well as a Christmas spent in Fort Lauderdale with my girlfriend’s family. It also gave me the chance to clinch a few more states in my quest to visit every county in the country. However, this write-up is to summarize the Texas portion of the trip.
