2023 Week 16 (Pennsylvania)

Week sixteen was another trip to the Pennsylvania state finals. For the second year, they were being held in Mechanicsburg on the west side of the state capital, Harrisburg.

Cumberland Valley High School’s Chapman Field was the host. And though it feels like the stadium lacks the gravitas of some other state finals, it’s more than adequate for the crowds Pennsylvania gets when their games are on quasi-free television via PCN across the state. 2020 Week 20 (Texas)

I’ve been busy now the last few weeks. So, aside from getting photos done, doing a little write-up on the games is a bit of a stretch. Also, since I was in Texas for work for two weeks meant that I didn’t really ‘travel’ for the games like I did with South Dakota, Mississippi, or the state finals of Week 18.

This week, knowing I was going to be in Texas, made getting to DFW an easier option. With the prospect of six games, made it worthwhile. With limited fans and AT&T Stadium generally unavailable, Globe Life Park, just down the street, has become the go-to venue in DFW. Continue reading “2020 Week 20 (Texas)”

2019 Week 16 (Pennsylvania)

The Pennsylvania State Championships are a fun, albeit slightly subdued affair. Unlike other states still playing this late, lack of warm weather hinders the crowds, and some of Pennsylvania’s crowds are paltry. Only 950 attended the Thursday afternoon game between 1A powers Farrell (one of the smallest public schools in the state) and Bishop Guilfoyle, a private school also from the west side of the state.
